The Shelby Community Health Center is pleased to announce that the eighth annual Touchdown Tuesday Benefit Event will be held on the evening of November 18, 2014 at Maxim Events,1415 E Michigan Rd, Shelbyville, IN 46176. In keeping with our tradition, this event will feature Indianapolis Colts players. This year we are excited to announce that inside linebackers Jerrell Freeman and Mike Adams will be in attendance. Rest assured that Touchdown Tuesday 2014 will be an exciting event again this year!
You can purchase tickets for this dinner event and/or become a sponsor to help make this event a success. Previous events have raised around $10,000 for Shelby County’s uninsured. The $1,200 sponsorship package reserves a VIP meet and greet session and the dinner program for 8 people, as well as verbal and written recognition on printed advertising and marketing materials.
The mission of the health center is to provide health care and services to the uninsured population of Shelby County. We believe that every person should have access to healthcare. By providing acute care, chronic care management, access to prenatal care and medications, we hope to build a healthier future for our community.
We care for Shelby County residents with a household income 200% below poverty level, which roughly equates to an annual income of $47,700 or less for a family of four. It is estimated that 16% of Shelby County residents are uninsured. Shelby County 2014 health statistics lists the unemployment rate at 7.8%, with 19% of children living in poverty (County Health Rankings). The demand for our services overtakes our budget and the ability to hire additional clinical staff.
The health center, its volunteers, and the staff work with various health care partners in the community to administer three main programs:
- Free Clinic Program
- Prenatal Assistance Program
- Prescription Medication Assistance Program
In 2013 alone we totaled 3,051 patient visits and assisted 64 prenatal clients. Over 142 women received PAP screens and our patients received above $2,106,288 in prescription assistance.
Your support of Touchdown Tuesday will help at-risk members of our community receive the health care they need. With the current economy and unemployment rate, the need for free health services to the uninsured in Shelby County has increased dramatically over the past few years. It is only through the financial support of our sponsors that we are able to bring Colts players to Shelby County for this unique and entertaining fundraiser.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and are happy to answer any questions that you may have about the event or the Health Center’s services. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
